Executive Director-CSO Anthony Howell gave an overview of updates made over the past year to the MOST Boilermakers Delivery System, which include:

  • Ship Builders Local 010 Part Two set up for dispatching applicants to a shipbuilding job.
  • Local 011 and Local 456 (Savannah River) signature line work order referral forms were set up through an updated code to allow the signature line if requested and approved.
  • The dispatch referral form was updated to verify consistent verbiage across standard, District 57 and Lone Star District referral forms. The Headquarters address was updated, and the signature line was removed from all three forms.
  • Logic was added to allow dispatchers to edit the work history of applicants booming in their local. If an applicant is booming elsewhere, only that local can edit the work history for that work order.
  • The ability to search for applicants by phone number on the applicant search page was added and allows for searching all three stored phone numbers.
  • A note is now automatically added to an applicant’s notes page when a Chain of Custody is applied or revoked.
  • A code was refactored so the “Apply COC” button is always visible for those who have the “Can_Apply_COC” role.  If no applicant is selected, the button appears but remains disabled.
  • A dropdown menu was added to select open work order numbers when creating a manpower request.
  • To improve formatting and clarity, local text replacement was added to emails sent when saving a manpower request.
  • Functionality was added to allow locals to add, edit and flag deleted manpower requests.
  • Two separate drug test dates—With THC and Without THC—were added to the applicant dashboard, profile and advanced filter. For referral eligibility, either valid test date counts as current.
  • Logic was added to send expiration notifications within 30 days when both THC and non-THC tests are expiring.
  • Monthly drug test pdf renewal notice generation was added, and the notifications are emailed to the MOST office to be printed and mailed to applicants.
  • Logic tweak was made to allow the drug test pdf renewal notices to be sent earlier, providing expiration lists one month in advance.
  • Four rigging modules were added to the advanced filter for applicant searches.
  • A new EPRI column was added to the dashboard and MOST individual profile page for tracking confined space entry attendance duties.
  • Three new “Dispatched As” categories were added for GTAW Welders: GTAW/SMAW Carbon, GTAW/SMAW Stainless and GTAW/SMAW Inconel
  • International President Timothy Simmons noted that the MBDS was originally created for an entirely different purpose and by an individual who had no Boilermaker dispatching experience. He praised Boilermakers Software Engineer/Application Architect Ed Jasinski for his continued work to improve the platform.

“Brother Jasinski has worked tirelessly day and night to make it into a system that’s functional, and it has the potential to be phenomenal,” he said. “If you have ideas on how to make it more functional for you, let us know and we’ll make certain we make it easier for you.”
