International President Timothy Simmons closed the National Tripartite Alliance with a message of gratitude and a call for continued collaboration among owners, contractors and union leaders.
“For the owners and contractors, thank you for being a part of this,” Simmons said. “It’s through the spirit of tripartite that we’re actually able to come together and not only make things better for the industry, but to make it safer and more productive.”
Simmons thanked owners for providing work opportunities and contractors for building strong partnerships with the union. He also recognized business managers and union representatives, praising their work and leadership at the local level.
Looking ahead, Simmons urged owners to review their safety and training programs and respond to upcoming surveys designed to help shape future skill development in the union. He also encouraged more bilateral talks with contractors to better understand their needs.
Addressing labor market challenges, Simmons emphasized the value of investing in skilled workers. “You’re not going to get skilled labor cheap,” he said. “But we more than make up for it in productivity, safety and the ability to do any job you put us on. We are the most skilled trade out there, and I appreciate being part of it.”
